Deja Vu

My story is quite interesting. See, I got involved with a married man whose relationship with his wife was over long before I got there. I happened to be around to pick up the pieces, and to show him that he could be happy again.

We worked together and became very good friends and nothing more. Over a period of a couple of years, our relationship graduated to another level. We became intimately involved, quite by accident, or maybe on purpose, who knows. Anyway, we snuck around for three years in a very deep, sexual relationship on of our wonderful friendship. There were three children involved and he did not want to leave them. I admired him for devoting his life to his children, but informed him he could not keep me on the line any longer, and finally, after three long years of waiting, he did it. I never thought he'd go through with it, but he did. He left everything for me. Now, seven years later, we've met turmoil. He's gotten involved with another woman. A woman he works with - directly supervises. And, she shares my same first name. Now, I wonder, am I getting what I deserve? Is this just the type of person he is? I can't answer these questions and this wonderful, gentle, loving man whom I thought was my soul mate (and he says he still is), I don't even know anymore. Worse than all of this, he did this while I was pregnant with his child. Now, we're seeking counseling and trying to make this relationship work. We both believe it's worth salvaging, but I can't even begin to tell you how bad it hurts. It actually gave me a new perspective on the "wife's" point of view - See, now I've been on both ends. It ain't fun, I can assure you. Maybe we need to think twice about getting involved with a man who belongs to someone else, no matter how much we love him. I don't know whether I can say it's worth it or not. Best of luck to all of you. Strong hearts are needed here.
